Matthew 17:21 (NKJV) “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Certain doors in life will never open to us until we have properly engaged God through fasting and prayer. There are many things that are rightfully yours in the covenant. However, you may never enjoy them until you ask, seek, and knock correctly. Here are three things that happen when we engage God through fasting and prayer:
Nobody can do the asking, seeking and knocking for you. It is time for you to aggressively take that which belongs to you through fasting and prayer.
1. God’s will becomes clear to us. In a season of prayer and fasting we are able to silence the voice of our human flesh so we hear the voice of the Spirit. In other words, our discernment is sharpened when we fast and pray. Acts 13:2 (NKJV) shows us that, “As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them’”.
As we can see in the above scripture, they were able to know God’s will after engaging Him through fasting and praying.
2. You are empowered to overpower your adversaries. If you are destined for greatness you oftentimes meet resistance and opposition. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 16:9 (NKJV), “For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”
If you desire to prevail despite the resistance and opposition, you must be a person who engages God through fasting and prayer. Fasting and prayer will empower you to prevail despite the presence of your adversaries. I see God set a table before you in the presence of your enemies.
3.It enforces prophecies. Every word of prophecy is God’s plan unfolded through the spoken word. So, what God says to you through Scripture or through a human vessel is His plan for you; and as far as He is concerned, it is settled. However, what many of us don’t understand is that most prophecies don’t get fulfilled without the application of certain kingdom forces like fasting and prayer. Just like the Apostle charged his protégé in 1 Timothy 1:18 (NKJV) saying, “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,” don’t just watch over your prophecies; war with them until they come into reality.
Precious one, nobody can do the asking, seeking and knocking for you. It is time for you to aggressively take that which belongs to you through fasting and prayer.
Prayer : Heavenly Father, grant me the grace and strength needed to engage You through fasting and prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.
