If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? Psalm 11:3 Kjv

the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in DubaiDid you know that the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, is more than 2,700 feet tall? It has 160 floors and has the world’s highest swimming pool (on the 76th floor).

But the secret to the stability of this massive building is found underground—it’s foundation. Before construction began to rise up, workers spent a year digging and pouring the massive foundation that supports the building. The foundation contains some 58,900 cubic yards of concrete weighing more than 110,000 tons. The building is safe because the foundation is thick and solid.
Build a solid Foundation - Bishop Charles AgyinasareA foundation can be defined as the lowest load-bearing part of a building, typically below ground level. A weak foundation will inevitably lead to a weak building, whereas a foundation that is deep and solid will ensure stability of a tall structure. Do you have a strong foundation? The foundation in context today is one on which we build our lives, our faith, our relationships, and our careers.

Here are 3 ways to build a solid foundation:

#1. Surround yourself with Christian friends.
We need to have a solid Christian community to build our foundations in Christ Jesus. God did not create us to walk this life alone; but He wishes for us to build relationships with other believers in order that we teach, build up, rebuke, and correct each other. The Bible says in

1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing”.

#2. Find a mentor and accountability partner.
The Bible says in

James 5:16 Kjv, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.”

This is an important exercise. A mentor and accountability partner is a strong Christian that is older than you, and that can teach you God’s word and hold you accountable. This is someone that can pour into you and guide you as you walk through life. Such a person can direct you to get the right materials for a solid foundation.

#3. Create a new routine and habit that involves spending time in God’s word and prayer.
If we are going to grow deeper in our faith and have a strong foundation, we must spend time building a relationship with the Lord. This means having a quiet time with the Lord and making it a priority in our lives. In Romans 12:2 (NKJV) Scripture says,

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Precious one, without a solid foundation failure is certain. Start working on your solid foundation today.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me build a stronger foundation in all areas of my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
